LAUREN POLAN was borne and raised in Los Angeles. She began her career in 1983 as an assistant for the owners/top performing agents in Beverly Hills. The company was known as Alvarez, Hyland & Young. "What a great experience. In my first year I was showing the homes of some of the most interesting people. My favorite meeting was with Gregory Peck. At the time I was too young to understand who I was meeting. Perhaps it was better that way as if I had known I think I would have fainted!" Soon after Lauren got her real estate license and was partnering with one of the owners of the company on many transactions. "I made my first sale one week after getting my real estate license."
In 1992 LAUREN was made an unheard of offer. She was offered $12,000 by June Scott of June Scott & Associates to become an agent in her office. "I will never forget that day. I was at the home of Joan Rivers for an inspection. June Scott who was the listing agent was there. We got on really well and before I knew it I was working as a full time estate agent for her company. I know of no other agent, although there must be others, that was paid to become an agent in an office. Of course, it turned out to be a very wise investment on June's part. Within a few months of working in her office I sold a home where the Seller gave me a $50,000 bonus! June as my broker got her share of it! And, I was very happy that she did. She gave me the courage to go out on my own."
In 1992 LAUREN accepted the position of Associate Manager and Training Director for Coldwell Banker's #1 Office Worldwide. "This experience really gave me confidence in my abilities. Betty Graham, who eventually become the West Coast President for Coldwell Banker, was the manager at the time. She use to call me, Little Lauren. I am 5' 9 1/2" tall. But she thought I was still kind of shy and through her I learned as long as I worked hard and smart on behalf of my clients success would be mine. Thank you Betty for terrific advice and for believing in me, more then I believed in myself at that time."
In 1996 LAUREN married Dr. Gary Polan, an Optometrist in Pacific Palisades where they reside. Soon after she joined the local Coldwell Banker office and has never looked back. In her spare time she loves taking walks with her dog Buddy and going to the Sunday's Farmer's Marker with her husband and then she is usually off to an open house. "I love living and working here in Pacific Palisades. And, while most of my business is here, I do work throughout Greater Los Angeles. I am really fortunate to have this career. I always say it took me 30 years to make it look easy."
